A Father and Son Prayer

A Son's Prayer

Dear God, please make me the kind of man my Daddy is.

A Father's Prayer

Dear God, please make me the kind of man my son thinks I am.

Recommended Reading: Even Now by Karen Kingsbury

When we were about to leave Richmond this past weekend, my friend Leigh, handed me this book. It was longer then most books I read but she said it is an amazing book so I figured I would check it out. While Jayden and Adam were bonding on the plane ride home I decide to start reading the first couple chapters to see if I would like it. Well let's just say, I loved it. I finished the book in three days and I can't wait to read the sequel. The sequel was voted the number one christian book of 2007! I can't wait to report on the sequel but honestly, it is a quick read and I totally recommend it.

My Favorite Items: Vistaprint

I love telling people about my favorite items because most of my favorite items were recommended to me by someone else. So hopefully ya'll enjoy them too!

Let me tell you about my biggest secret: www.vistaprint.com. This website is amazing. And the deals are just incredible. I came across this site about 3 years ago when I wanted to make my brother new address labels because he had just bought a new home. Since then I have used it to make invitations, business cards, more address labels, thank-you cards, banners, our wedding invitations, menu cards, programs and even a large magnet. When you first click go to the website you can see that their prices are not very reasonable. But here is the trick. Google "vistaprint promotional codes" and you will see how cheap the particular item you are ordering can be. For example, 100 postcards are typically $24.99 but I found a promotional code and was able to get 100 postcards for $1.99. I know, it's crazy!

Even if you are not looking for any type of stationary right now, the website is worth a look and maybe next time you need invitations or address labels you'll remember this post!

Great post: The Sleep-Life Connection

Behind every great woman is an even greater man? Is that how it goes? (wink, wink)!

Joe Crispin, the husband of Erin Crispin from Married to a Baller wrote a short, sweet and wonderful post to involving a sleep/life connection; and I couldn't agree with him more.

Last night while the Crispin's ventured off to a college baseball game, Adam and I were at a Bon Jovi concert and Jayden was having a sleepover with his cousin, Baby Addison. When we first woke up, Jayden was in a great mood but just as Joe mentioned, as the day wore on Jayden's behavior took a turn for the worse. His listening ears were not attached and his respectful words and manor were below par. Needless to say, by the time 7 PM rolled around he was not allowed to play outside anymore for not sharing and he was in bed at 8 PM sharp.

Every child is different but for Jayden the amount and quality of sleep he gets is a huge part of his every day life. Some kids can function on 8 to 10 hours of sleep, my child not so much. Adam and I try our best to stick to his daily schedule but when things come up and he isn't in bed by 8:30 PM or we are not home to take a nap I try to be extra sensitive of his feelings because I know how much lack of sleep effects him.

And for my last theory on the importance of sleep, I swear sleep and sickness go hand in hand. I haven't done any research on this so it is strictly a little theory of mine but I can count the amount of times I've had to take Jayden to the doctors because he wasn't feeling well on one hand and have a couple fingers left over - HA!

Next stop: Richmond

I was just about to write a post on where we've been the last 2 weeks and where we'll be for the next 2 weeks and somehow my darling friend, Leigh, beat me too it! If interested, please read her post and changed Adam and Kearstin to Brad and Leigh and pretend I wrote it!

And here is the Harrington itinerary for the next two weeks:

Richmond, VA to Cape Cod to Miami - maybe, just Adam to New Jersey - just Adam to Chicago - just Adam and back home. Needless to say, my blog is going to take back seat once again. Sorry!

Pieces of my Mind: I empty my mind for the world to see

The love and friendship continues. Another one of my basketwives, Maria, published a beautiful blog post about the JEHH Memorial Fund and what Adam has been doing since the loss of his sister. She has included all the information on upcoming events and a wonderful picture of Adam and Jill. Please check it out (you could even starting following Maria at the same time)!

I have never actually met Maria but she has given me advice, support and love since the day she wrote a silly comment on my facebook wall. Her husband also plays basketball in Europe so we have lived a similar lifestyle. Check out Maria's blog. Her blog, Piece of my Mind: I empty my mind for the world to see, is full of information on faith, health, greener alternatives, her favorite products and some parenting style tips. Maria has done a wonderful job on her blog so check it out!

Love

I have said it once and I'll say it again, I am totally in love with love. I love people who are in love and spread their love to everyone. I love meeting people who love their lives and are just purely satisfied with the things they have and don't complain about the things they don't have. There are a couple things that have inspired this posts for me.

First, I want to send a big congratulatory shout out to my brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law, Liz who got engaged this weekend. I couldn't be more happier for them!

Second, last night night we went out in Atlantic City to celebrate Kyle and Liz's engagement (we don't tend to go to the "hot spots" anymore). The longer we stayed out the more and more thankful I felt to have Adam. I am so thankful that I have someone who I am absolutely head over heels in love with and someone who loves me back. I thank God every morning that Adam has chosen me over every other girl in this world. I couldn't wait to get back home to just relax and enjoy Adam.

And lastly, for the main point of this post, my friend Erin, posted on her facebook about a 30-day husband challenge. Basically, for 30-days you can't say anything negative about your husband, to your husband or to anyone else about your husband. But instead pray for your husband and give compliments! I will start my challenge on Monday (Adam's 30th Birthday!) and I challenge you to do the samr!
